LinqiApp beats Duolingo on App Store in Philippines

Our mission is to develop the best mobile app that helps 3.5B people from 196 countries to improve their speaking skills and enhance their communication with global citizens of the world.
As of March 31, 2024, we surpassed the global EdTech giant Duolingo and secured the top spot in the Education category on the App Store in the Philippines, among 550,000+ mobile applications.
LinqiApp Team works to make English speaking practice fun by using social features and peer-learning model in language education, sustainable by building a strong learning habit with gamification design and available for everyone around the world to “Speak English Freely”.

Growth KPIs
- LinqiApp has been expanding steadily in the APAC region, with our latest significant achievement being in the Philippines, where we have secured the top spot as the #1 Education app on the App Store, surpassing Duolingo & Google Classroom apps.
- Achieving this milestone on the App Store not only demonstrates our success but also signifies an overall increase in our ranking across Southeast Asian countries. Additionally, we’ve ignited organic user growth on the App Store.

- This quarter, we have seen rapid increase by 17x in the number of paid subscribers, with a conversion rate of 1% in March. Additionally, we managed to reduce the churn rate of our Premium users (paid subscribers) by 50% in March
- In March, we experienced a remarkable 200% increase in downloads compared to the previous month, reaching nearly 20,000 downloads.
- Our North Star Metric, Weekly Chat Time, has increased by 4x this month, 6.5x this quarter (2024 Q1). Linqians started adopting and using LinqiApp more and more every week which means we are increasing our retention and average session time as well.
Marketing Efforts
- Our Marketing Team achieved a significant milestone by beating the global giant Duolingo and claiming the #1 App in the Education category on the App Store in the Philippines, among hundreds of thousands of mobile applications. - LinqiApp has seen exceptional growth in its social media presence, with 6700% increase in reach compared to the previous month, reaching an impressive 1.2 million users across various social media channels.
- In March, we started testing our paid marketing strategies, specifically performance marketing on Meta platforms. Through these efforts, we have established our average cost per click (CPC), cost per install (CPI), and customer acquisition cost (CAC) metrics, providing valuable insights into our paid media user acquisition.
- We have achieved an impressive 96% accuracy in reaching our target customer segment, specifically 18-24 year olds, through both our paid-marketing and content marketing efforts.
- We are thrilled to announce our newest community-based partnerships with PythianGo, YUNIPEER, and Upper Social, three dynamic startups that share our passion for community and innovation. Read the details on our Newsroom.
- We highly prioritize community engagement and community-based marketing strategies, which is why we’re thrilled to announce our official partnership with Karşıyaka Belediyesi Kolektif Girişimcilik Merkezi. Additionally, we’re excited to share a major milestone in our journey as we warmly welcome GamFed Türkiye as our strategic partner!
- We are actively empowering our brand awarenes across university campuses in Turkey. In the recent month, LinqiApp has sponsored more than 30 university communities and clubs, gifting LinqiApp Premium to over 1500 students.

Product Development
- Our Product Team is currently working on innovative new LinqiApp version 2.0 to transform it into a social language learning app special for college students. This update will bring a variety of deeply enganced and gamified social elements aimed at improving user engagement, retention, and monetization as well. Keep an eye out for further updates in the upcoming months.
- Our team recently participated in a special webinar on “How to Build Habit-Forming Products” by Nir Eyal. Following this, our Co-Founders are scheduled to meet with Nir to discuss LinqiApp and gather valuable feedback from him regarding the product we are developing.
- Aligned with our Product-Led Growth strategy, we’ve been collaborating with a group of gamification enthusiasts from the GamFed Türkiye Community to redesign the gamification scenarios of LinqiApp.
- As we are in the Growth program at İTÜ Çekirdek, out team attended three sessions on Product Management and Product Growth facilitated by Kadir Kuğu.
Network & Events
- Our Mind Behind Execution, Aziz Ahmedov, recently had an insightful interview with Prof. Dr. Belgin Elmas, the head of the Foreign Languages department at TED University. During the discussion, they delved into Aziz’s vision for the future of education and language learning, as well as his entrepreneurial journey behind building the EdTech product, LinqiApp. Watch the interview here.
- Early in March, our Co-Founder & MBE, Aziz Ahmedov, has joined to ETZ, the largest EdTech event in Turkey, to learn new insights and innovations about recent educatonal tehcnology and artificial intelligence.
- Our Co-Founder, Aziz Ahmedov, attended the local SaaStock Event at Tech Istanbul organized by Levent Askan, where he engaged with fellow founders, discussing entrepreneurship and networking opportunities.
- Our Co-Founders, Aziz Ahmedov & Handan Karadeniz, were invited to give a speech about entrepreneurship and startup at university events, including İTÜ IEEE Club, Piri Reis University Startup Club, Artvin University GDSC, Yozgat University Huawei Club, and Yozgat University GDSC.
